One of my closest friends from chiropractic college recently moved to a new state and needed to start fresh with a new practice. He needed a new website.
He is a smart guy and a good chiropractor. For years he had built his own websites and done a decent job with it. He was also someone who used to say he did not understand why anyone would pay a chiropractic website company to do something he could figure out himself.
When he made the move, I offered to help. He wanted to do it himself with my guidance, so I coached him through the process. I walked him through everything I do on a standard build: the structure, the content decisions, the foundational SEO, the schema markup, the Google Business Profile setup, the things I include and the things I deliberately leave out. All the small decisions that add up to a site that actually works.
At some point during the process he stopped and said: I don’t think you charge enough.
He was surprised at how many layers there were to something that looks simple from the outside. By the end he had gone from “I don’t understand why anyone would pay for this” to “I don’t know why people don’t just pay you to do it.”
He still built his own site. He wanted to. But he understood for the first time what he was actually taking on.
That conversation stuck with me because it gets at something I have been thinking about a lot lately.
There Is Nothing I Do That You Could Not Learn
I want to be honest about something that most website and SEO companies would never say out loud. Everything I do for a chiropractic website is learnable. The platform I use is not complicated. The SEO principles are not a secret. The content strategy is not proprietary. If you wanted to learn how to do what I do, you could. It would take time and consistent effort, but it is not beyond you.
I am not saying this to undersell my work. I am saying it because I think chiropractors deserve an honest conversation about what they are actually paying for when they hire someone like me.
You are not paying for access to knowledge that is otherwise unavailable. You are not paying for a magic formula that only I possess. What you are actually paying for is simpler and in some ways more valuable than that.
What You Are Really Paying For When Hiring a Chiropractic Website Company
You are paying to never have to think about it.
You went to chiropractic school for four years after completing an undergraduate degree. You spent years learning how to assess, diagnose, and treat patients. You built a practice. You manage a schedule, handle patient relationships, run a small business, and try to have some kind of life outside of work.
At some point someone told you that you also needed to understand local SEO, manage your Google Business Profile, build a website that converts visitors into patients, create content that ranks in AI search results, and keep up with algorithm changes that happen constantly and without warning.
Nobody asked if you wanted to add that to your plate. It just became part of running a chiropractic practice in the modern world.
My clients are not people who cannot figure this stuff out. Most of them are smart, capable, and perfectly able to learn new things. They hire me because they have made a decision about how they want to spend their time and mental energy. Learning web design and local SEO is not on the list. Taking care of patients and running a good practice is.
When they hand this off to me, they are not admitting defeat. They are making a smart decision about where their attention is most valuable.
The Car Negotiator Analogy
I recently watched a video from someone who gets paid to negotiate car deals on behalf of buyers. He made a comment that resonated with me. He said he cannot always save people thousands of dollars compared to what they could accomplish themselves if they walked into a dealership fully prepared. What he actually offers is the ability to take the stress out of a process that most people find miserable.
He also mentioned something else. Car buying is an industry where people are conditioned to expect that they are going to get taken advantage of. His value is partly in the outcome but also in being someone who tells the truth in a space where that is genuinely rare.
That maps almost exactly onto what I do.
Chiropractic web and SEO is an industry where chiropractors have been burned repeatedly. Guaranteed rankings that never materialized. Generic content that could belong to any practice in any city. Agencies that were responsive during the sales process and impossible to reach three months later. Automated reports full of impressive looking numbers that did not translate into a single new patient.
Most chiropractors who reach out to me have already been through at least one bad experience. They are not just shopping for a website or an SEO service. They are looking for someone they can actually trust to tell them the truth about what is realistic, what is not, and what is actually going to move the needle for their specific practice in their specific market.
That is a different thing than just building a website. And it is worth paying for.
The DIY Chiropractic Webiste Reality
My friend from chiropractic college built his own site. He is glad he did it and I think it was the right call for him. He wanted to understand the process and he had the time and patience to work through it. Not everyone does and not everyone should.
Here is what the honest DIY picture looks like for most chiropractors. You will spend significant time learning a platform. Then you will spend more time learning what makes a chiropractic website actually work versus just exist. Then you will need to learn local SEO, which is its own ongoing education because the landscape changes constantly. Then you will need to maintain all of it while also running a practice.
Some chiropractors do this well. I have seen it. But most of the ones who try it eventually reach a point where the time cost outweighs the financial savings. That is usually when they reach out to me.
And almost without exception, the first thing they say is some version of: I wish I had done this sooner.
Why My Background Changes Things
I spent nine years as a practicing chiropractor before I started building websites and managing SEO for chiropractic practices. That background is not a marketing angle. It changes how I think about your site, your patients, and your local market.
When I look at a chiropractic website I am not just evaluating it as a web designer. I am reading it the way a patient would and the way a chiropractor would. I know the difference between an evidence-based practice and a vitalistic one. I know why phases of care language on a homepage scares off the patients you most want to attract. I know what actually matters to someone who is searching for a chiropractor in your area and trying to decide whether to call your office or the one down the street.
Most web and SEO companies learn about chiropractic from keyword research tools. I learned it from nine years of clinical practice. That is a meaningful difference even if it is hard to put on a price tag.
You can also hear more about how I think about chiropractic marketing on the Rocket Chiro podcast, where I have been talking about these topics for years.
What I Actually Offer
I build chiropractic websites and manage local SEO for a small number of practices at a time. But if I am being honest about what I really offer, it is this: you hire me and you stop thinking about your website. You stop worrying about whether your Google Business Profile is optimized. You stop wondering if your site is doing what it is supposed to do. You stop trying to keep up with changes to search algorithms and AI results.
You focus on your patients. I handle the rest.
That is not a revolutionary concept. But in an industry where most vendors overpromise and underdeliver, just doing what you say you are going to do turns out to be pretty valuable.
If you want to talk about whether it makes sense for your practice, the free practice assessment is the best place to start. I will take an honest look at where you stand and give you a straight answer about what would actually make a difference.
